CHICAGO (August 2, 2018) – Donte Ingram (Chicago, Ill./Simeon), who wrapped up his illustrious career at Loyola University Chicago earlier this year, has signed a contract with the NBA's Dallas Mavericks. The 6-foot-6 guard/forward, who was a Second Team All-Missouri Valley Conference honoree this season, signed an Exhibit 10 agreement with the Mavericks.
"I'm very excited for the opportunity in Dallas," Ingram said. "I have some great memories there from the NCAA tournament in March and I want to keep that momentum rolling."
Earlier this summer, Ingram played for the Chicago Bulls during NBA Summer League play in Las Vegas, and notched 13 points, two rebounds and four assists in a 95-83 victory over Dallas on July 11.
Ingram, who gained national notoriety for hitting a long three-pointer with three-tenths of a second remaining to lift Loyola past Miami, 64-62, in the opening round of the NCAA tournament on March 15, wrapped up an illustrious career in Maroon and Gold as one of only 11 players in program history to accumulate over 1,200 points and 600 rebounds. Ironically enough, Ingram's clutch shot to beat Miami came at American Airlines Arena, the home of the Mavericks, in Dallas.
The 6-foot-6 guard/forward led the Ramblers to 89 wins in his four seasons in Rogers Park, including a school-record 32 victories, a Missouri Valley Conference regular season title and MVC Championship crown in 2017-18. As a freshman in 2014-15, he helped Loyola capture the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) title.
As a senior, Ingram garnered Second Team All-MVC and First Team National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 16 honors, was tabbed Most Outstanding Player of the MVC Championship, and was a member of the NCAA South Regional All-Tournament Team. He contributed 11.0 points, a team-best 6.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game this season.
One of the top three-point marksmen in The Valley, Ingram shot 41.7 percent (128-for-307) from beyond the arc over his final two seasons at Loyola, leading the conference in that category in 2016-17 (.458).
Ingram is one of three Ramblers from the 2018 Final Four team to sign a professional contract, joining
Aundre Jackson (Iceland) and
Ben Richardson (Poland), who inked deals to compete overseas earlier this summer.
