MVC Preview Results Through Two Rounds
CHESTERTON, Ind. (October 15, 2018) –
Senior Elayna Bowser
fired a second-round four-over-par 76 to insert herself in the conversation for individual medalist honors as the Loyola University Chicago women's golf team opened play at the Missouri Valley Conference Preview today in Chesterton, Ind.
The Maroon & Gold totaled a 673 (339-334) at the Sand Creek Country Club (par 72, 6,074 yards) to move to eighth in the team standings. Defending Valley Champion Missouri State (324-318=642) holds a one-shot lead over second-place Bradley (320-323=643). The Bears' Abby Cavaini carded consecutive rounds of 76 to top the individual leaderboard with a 152 (76-76).
Bowser, who has led Loyola in each of its first four events this fall, bounced back from an opening-round 81 with the aforementioned tally of 76 to close the day with a 157 (81-76). The Dearborn, Mich. native is just five strokes off the pace being set by Cavaini.
Freshman Lorenza Martinez
is tied for 27th
at 169 (85-84) following respective rounds of 85 and 84, while junior Morgan Brown
is three strokes back as part of a tie for 36th
with a 172 (85-87). Freshman Jenny Myslinski
resides in a tie for 45th
after carding a 177 (90-87). Sophomore Abbey Meyers
rounded out the Loyola starting five on the day with a 179 (88-91) that has her tied for 48th
Final-round play at the Missouri Valley Conference Preview will get underway on Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m.
