Shirley Spork Invitational Results Through One Round
YPSILANTI, Mich. (October 8, 2018) –
Senior Elayna Bowser
carded a sparkling one-under-par 71 to lead the Loyola University Chicago women's golf team on the opening day of the Shirley Spork Invitational in Ypsilanti, Mich. Due to a fog delay that pushed the start of the play back by two hours this morning, the event has been reduced to 36 holes.
Loyola posted a team score of 308 that has it in fifth place as part of a hotly contested team race. Bowling Green (298) sits atop the leaderboard, while Cleveland State's Kaylee Neumeister and Michigan's Sophia Trombetta share the lead in the chase for individual medalist honors after both turned in two-under-par 70s at the par-72, 6,170-yard course at the Eagle Crest Golf Club.
Bowser continued her sensational fall season this afternoon in Eastern Michigan. The Dearborn, Mich. native notched a pair of birdies and racked up a team-high 15 pars en route to finishing with her aforementioned score of 71. She finds herself just a stroke off the pace being set by the duo of Neumeister and Trombetta.
