Loyola Fall Invitational Results Through Two Rounds
CHESTERTON, Ind. (September 17, 2018) –
Senior Elayna Bowser
finds herself atop the individual leaderboard following the opening day of competition for the Loyola University Chicago women's golf team at the Loyola Fall Invitational in Flossmoor, Ill.
Led by Bowser's impressive showing, the Ramblers enter Tuesday's final round at the Flossmoor Country Club (par 72, 5,986 yards) sitting third in the team standings with a 36-hole team total of 628 (318-310). South Dakota (304-305=609) leads the race for the team title, while Drake (312-311=623) holds a five-shot edge over Loyola for second place.
After carding a 76 during first-round play, Bowser turned in the top round of her collegiate career in the afternoon, firing a two-under-par 70 that fell just a stroke shy of tying former Rambler Logan Willis' 18-hole program low of 69. Out of Dearborn, Mich., Bowser (76-70=146), the reigning Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, owns a two-stroke lead over South Dakota's Megan Munneke (72-76=148) for the top spot in the race for medalist honors.
Sophomore Abbey Meyers
tied her 18-hole career low by carding an opening-round 77 as part of a 160 (77-83) that has her tied for 21st
. The freshman pairing of Lorenza Martinez
(83-79) and Jenny Myslinski
(82-80) both reside in a tie for 27th
at 162, while sophomore Sabrina Hoskins
is tied for 39th
after rounding out the Rambler starting quintet with a 166 (85-81).
Three members of the Loyola roster are also competing as individuals. Junior Morgan Brown
turned in a first-round 77 that helped her close the day tied for 21st
at 160 (77-83). Redshirt sophomore Sara Posada
, who is making her Loyola debut this week, posted a 170 (79-91) that has her as part of a tie for 55th
, while senior Madeline Neumeier
finds herself tied for 66th
at 181 (95-86).
The final round of the Loyola Fall Invitational will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday morning.
