Golden Grizzlies Invitational Results Through One Round
ROCHESTER, Mich. (September 24, 2018) –
Led by a strong start from senior Elayna Bowser
, the Loyola University Chicago women's golf team finds itself atop the team leaderboard following the opening round of the Golden Grizzlies Invitational in Rochester, Mich.
The Maroon & Gold posted a team tally of 315 to surge to the front of the team race today at the par-72, 6,056-yard Katke-Cousins Golf Course. Host Oakland (318) sits three strokes behind the Ramblers in second place.
Coming off the first individual win of her collegiate career, and playing just an hour away from her native Dearborn, Mich., Bowser quickly shot to the top of the chase for medalist honors. She drained a team-high three putts for birdie en route to closing first-round play with a one-over-par 73. Bowser holds a three-shot edge over a pair of competitors who are tied with identical scores of 76.
Freshman Jenny Myslinski
also finds herself in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard. The Palatine, Ill. native resides in a tie for eighth after carding a 79. The sophomore pairing of Sabrina Hoskins
and Abbey Meyers
turned in respective scores of 81 and 82. Hoskins is tied for 15th
, while Meyers is part of a four-way tie for 19th
. Junior Morgan Brown
rounded out the Rambler lineup on the day with an 85 that has her sitting tied for 34th
