Golden Grizzlies Invitational Final Results

ROCHESTER, Mich. (September 25, 2018) –
For a second-straight event, senior Elayna Bowser collected individual medalist honors as the Loyola University Chicago women's golf team earned a share of the team title at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational in Rochester, Mich.

The Ramblers posted a final-round 323 today at the Katke-Cousins Golf Course (par 72, 6,056 yards) to finish tied alongside host Oakland (318-320=638) with a 36-hole team score of 638 (315-323).  The two teams outdistanced third-place Central Michigan (324-316=640) by two strokes.

"I'm proud of how the team performed this week," Loyola head women's golf coach Carly Werwie said.  "We had stretches of good golf but we left a few shots out there due to some short-game mistakes.  I'm happy with the progress we are making as a program and these next two weeks of practice will be nice for focusing on adjustments to make our next event at Eastern Michigan a great one."

Bowser, a native of nearby Dearborn, Mich., closed out her second win in as many weeks amidst wet conditions by firing a four-over-par 76 to close play with a 149 (73-76).  The senior finished three shots in front of the Golden Grizzlies' Alexis Jones (76-76=152) atop the individual leaderboard.

"It was fun to see Elayna get back-to-back wins these last two weeks," Werwie commented.  "She played steady golf throughout the rainy conditions and is a great leader for our team."

Freshman Jenny Myslinski used her second straight round of 79 to solidify her spot in the top 10, as she finished tied for seventh with a 158 (79-79).  Sophomores Sabrina Hoskins and Abbey Meyers each carded rounds of 84 during final-round play.  Hoskins tied for 19th at 165 (81-84), while Meyers checked in as stroke back at 166 (82-84) as part of a tie for 22nd.  Like Myslinski, senior Morgan Brown matched her first-round score, turning in an 85 to tie for 39th with a 170 (85-85).

Loyola will take a week off from competition before it heads to Ypsilanti, Mich. for the Shirley Spork Invitational, Oct. 8-9.
