Bowser Paces Ramblers On Opening Day Of Redbird Invitational

Senior tied for eighth, Ramblers sit sixth in team race

Redbird Invitational Results Through Two Rounds

NORMAL, Ill. (September 9, 2018) –
Senior Elayna Bowser carded a five-over-par 149 (75-74) to lead the Loyola University Chicago women's golf team as the Ramblers opened their fall season this afternoon at the Redbird Invitational in Normal, Ill.
The Ramblers posted a two-round team tally of 619 (311-308) that has them sitting in sixth, just a stroke behind host Illinois State (306-312=618) and Northern Iowa (311-307=618), who are tied for fourth.  Northern Illinois (288-296=584) sits atop the team leaderboard, while the Huskies' Lauren Ingle (69-73) and Brielle Ward (71-71) are tied for the lead in the race for medalist honors after both posted two-under-par 142s at the par-72, 5,983-yard course at the Weibring Golf Club.
Bowser, who led Loyola in stroke average in 2017-18, opened her day with a three-over-par 75 before closing the afternoon by firing a two-over-par 74 that has her tied for eighth on the individual leaderboard.  Freshman Lorenza Martinez impressed in her first outing for the Maroon & Gold, posting a 155 (76-79) that currently places her as part of a tie for 23rd.
The sophomore pairing of Sabrina Hoskins and Abbey Meyers are tied for 36th after each turning in scores of 158.  Hoskins (82-76) bounced back from an opening-round 82 by posting a 76 during second-round play, while Meyers (79-79) set a new 18-hole collegiate low following back-to-back rounds of 79.  Freshman Jenny Myslinski resides as part of a tie for 62nd after she rounded out the Rambler starting five with a 163 (81-82).
