CHICAGO (June 14, 2022) – Seven Loyola University Chicago athletics programs posted perfect scores in the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) data released by the NCAA today. A total of ten Loyola teams recorded scores of 988 or higher and the Ramblers ranked second among Missouri Valley Conference schools with seven perfect 1000 APR scores, behind only Valparaiso, which had eight.
Â
The four-year APR rates include student-athletes who were in school between the 2017-18 and 2020-21 academic years.
Â
Loyola's seven perfect APR scores ranked second among schools in the state of Illinois, behind Northwestern (11), and ahead of Illinois (6) and DePaul (5), among others. Over the last five reporting years, Loyola has accumulated a total of 26 perfect APR scores.
Â
The Loyola men's golf, men's volleyball, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's golf, women's soccer and women's track and field programs all posted an APR score of 1,000 according to the latest data released by the NCAA today. Men's basketball's score of 995 was nearly 30 points higher than the national average (968).
Â
The public announcement of APRs returned after a one-year hiatus. This spring, the Division I Board of Directors approved the continual suspension of APR penalties for an additional year due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it supported the public release of the APR data.
Â
Despite having to deal with the many challenges of the last few years, Division I student-athletes continue to perform well in the classroom. The national four-year Academic Progress Rate is 984.
Â
Each academic year, every Division I sports team across the country calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn one point for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating. For schools that do not offer scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked.
Â
The Academic Performance Program has established an essential framework for academic excellence. The program provides measurable goals to ensure schools are fulfilling their commitment of equipping student-athletes with the tools and resources necessary to achieve academic success

APRs for each team are available online through theÂ
