Loyola Captures MVC All-Academic Award For Third Time In Last Four Years

Rambler student-athletes posted a collective 3.546 grade-point average in 2021-22

CHICAGO (June 21, 2022) – For the third time in the last four years, Loyola University Chicago has claimed the Missouri Valley Conference All-Academic Award. During the 2021-22 academic year, Loyola student-athletes posted a 3.546 grade-point average, finishing nearly a tenth of a point ahead of both Drake (3.455) and Northern Iowa (3.455).

Every year since 2002-03, the MVC All-Academic Award has been presented to the member institution that finishes the school year with the best grade-point average among its student-athletes who participate in a Valley-sponsored sport.

Loyola produced three CoSIDA Academic All-District selections in 2021-22, with men's soccer forward Billy Hency garnering CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America status. A total of 38 Ramblers garnered MVC Scholar-Athlete Team honors in their respective sport.

The Ramblers had another successful season in competition as well, earning MVC regular-season championships in both women's soccer and women's volleyball, as well as tournament titles in women's soccer, women's cross country and men's basketball. Women's soccer earned its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth, while men's basketball made its third trip to the Big Dance in the last four tournaments.

In addition to that team success, Anneka Murrin claimed her third straight individual title at the MVC Women's Cross Country Championship, Megan Nemec (women's soccer) was named United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-America, and men's volleyball student-athletes Cole Schlothauer, Parker Van Buren and Garrett Zolg all picked up American Volleyball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-America recognition.
