CHICAGO - Loyola Chicago continues to succeed in the classroom with high marks in the latest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) report that was released by the NCAA Wednesday afternoon. The Ramblers posted a rate of 94 percent.
Â
Women's basketball, women's cross country & track and field, and men's golf posted perfect scores, while men's soccer, women's soccer, softball, men's cross country & track and field, men's volleyball, and women's golf scored 90 percent or better.
Â
Developed to more accurately assess the long-term academic success of student-athletes, the GSR holds institutions accountable for transfer students, unlike the federal graduation rate. The GSR also accounts for midyear enrollees and is calculated for every sport. Under the calculation, institutions are not penalized for outgoing transfer students who leave in good academic standing. The outgoing transfers are included in the receiving institution's cohort.
Â
The most recent Division I Graduation Success Rates are based on the four entering classes from 2014-17. The NCAA began compiling these figures with the entering freshman class of 1995.
Â
Last season's success was evident both on and off the court. The men's basketball program earned a share of the 2023-24 regular season title, both men's and women's cross country swept the conference titles, Chris Devaney repeated as the men's cross country individual champion and snagged an All-American nod, and indoor and outdoor track & field combined for seven event titles.
Â
Academically, the Ramblers combined for a 3.60 cumulative GPA, the highest on record in Loyola athletics history. Forty-one athletes posted a 4.0 GPA, while 93 percent earned a 3.0 or better.
Â
In total, 57 student-athletes walked across the stage at graduation to receive their Loyola degree. Over a third of them graduated with at least a 3.5 GPA.
