Marcus Mercer enters his second year as the department's Director of Marketing. Mercer comes to Chicago after two-plus years as the Assistant Director of Fan Experience and Promotions at The Ohio State University. At Loyola, he oversees the marketing efforts of all 15 intercollegiate sports and also be in charge of the fan experience at home events.

Mercer brings a wealth of experience with him to Rogers Park, with over six years of Division I experience under his belt. During his time at Ohio State, Mercer served as the department's primary contact for their 2015 National Championship football team, creating game scripts and coordinating and executing game-day operations. In addition to working with football, Mercer was also the primary marketing contact for the Buckeyes' men's soccer, men's ice hockey and baseball programs. He collaborated with the department's creative staff to produce advertising materials and marketing collateral while also assisting IMG with sponsorship fulfillment. Externally, Mercer was also the point person for the Buckeyes Care community outreach program.

That was Mercer's second stint with the Buckeyes, as he worked as a full-time intern for the 2011-12 athletic year, working with five different athletic programs. In between, he spent the 2012-13 year as the Assistant Director of Marketing and Promotions at the University of Oklahoma. While in Norman, Mercer was the primary marketing contact for OU's volleyball, wrestling and softball teams, while assisting in the planning and execution of game day operations for men's and women's basketball while also helping with football game day production.

He began his professional career as a marketing intern at Vanderbilt in 2009 before moving to Knoxville in July, 2010 for a one-year stint as a marketing assistant at the University of Tennessee. While there, he was the primary marketing contact for two teams and also prepared, organized and executed operations for the Volunteer Village Fan Fest on football game days, which attracted approximately 20,000 people per game.

Mercer graduated from Capital University - where he was a four-year member of the school's baseball team - in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education. He went on to earn his Master of Sport Administration degree from Belmont University in 2010.
