Alex Austin joined the Loyola University Chicago athletics' staff as an athletics coordinator in September 2023. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois where he competed on the men’s basketball team from 2014-2017. During his time at U of I, he received his bachelor’s degree in communications, and a master’s degree in sports management.
After U of I, Alex received his second master’s degree from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville in kinesiology, while working as a graduate assistant with SIUE Athletics.
Before arriving at Loyola, Alex spent time at his alma mater, Mount Carmel High School, as the director of alumni relations & special events. He also currently coaches for a youth basketball program called “Play Hard Hoops”, and runs a non-profit called “Chicago Positive Impact” with his college teammate, Tracy Abrams.
