Head men’s basketball coach Drew Valentine announced the hiring of Christian Webster to serve as an assistant coach for Loyola Chicago in April 2026. Webster brings with him over 10 years of coaching experience.

Webster served as an assistant at Stetson, Virginia Tech, Central Florida, and Harvard before his stop here in Rogers Park.

Webster has spent most of his coaching tenure at Virginia Tech where he helped the Hokies make five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, highlighted by a Sweet 16 run in 2019.

At Virginia Tech, Webster played a key part in opponent scouting and recruiting. He helped the Hokies bring in six ESPN top-100 recruits and a top-20 national recruiting class in his first season. He was tabbed to the ESPN’s 40 Under 40 list in 2020 for his impact on the recruiting trail.

Between his time at Virgina Tech and now Loyola, Webster served a one-year stint at Stetson. The Hatters posted 12 wins, including seven in conference play, and advanced to the ASUN quarter finals after picking up a win over Eastern Kentucky in the conference tournament.

Before joining the staff at Virginia Tech, Webster spend the 2015-16 season at Central Florida. His coaching career began at Harvard, where he spent two seasons as an assistant. The Crimson went 49-13 and had back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.

He joined Harvard’s staff after a standout playing career with the Crimson. He was a four-year starter and graduated as the winningest player in program history with 90 wins, including three straight Ivy League Titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances.
