Michael Freeze

Coach Freeze joined Loyola University Chicago’s Sports Performance staff in September 2024 where he currently oversees all phases of training for men’s volleyball, women’s soccer, and XC/TF.

Prior to joining Loyola, Freeze spent over two years at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he worked with men’s and women’s gymnastics and softball. He helped the Illini men’s gymnastics team to a Big Ten title in 2024 and worked with multiple members of the USA National team.

Before working at the University of Illinois, Freeze spent time at the University of Arizona working with baseball and women’s volleyball, Aurora University as a graduate assistant strength coach, and a stint as a sports performance intern with Loyola University Chicago in 2019.

Freeze currently resides in Aurora, Ill. and is a Chicagoland area native from Bolingbrook, Ill. He is a former collegiate athlete, having played baseball for four years at North Park University. Freeze holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from North Park University and a Master of Science in Exercise Science from Aurora University. Freeze holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), USA Weightlifting (USAW-1), and first aid, CPR, and AED through AHA.
