Chicago (September 26, 2002) - Loyola University Chicago Athletics Hall of Fame member John Egan will be inducted into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame in a ceremony tonight at Maryville Academy. Egan, a starter on Loyola's 1963 NCAA National Championship men's basketball squad, is one of 12 inductees in this year's class.

Approximately 600 people are expected to attend tonight's ceremony, which will also feature the induction of Chicago sports celebrities Mike Adamle, Steve McMichael, Scott Sanderson and Taylor Bell, among others.

Egan will join his former Loyola coach, George Ireland, and teammate Jerry Harkness, in the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame. A feisty guard, Egan amassed 1,315 points in his career and averaged 13.7 points during the 1962-63 campaign. He currently ranks 15th on the Ramblers' career scoring chart. His No. 11 Loyola jersey was retired in 1993.
