Blake Schilb scored 28 points and added nine assists, five rebounds, four steals and two blocks to help Loyola University Chicago rally from a 12-point deficit in an 80-74 victory over Robert Morris College in exhibition action tonight at the Gentile Center.
The Eagles owned leads of 12 points on three occasions in the first half and held a 33-21 advantage with 7:57 left in the period. However, Loyola used an 18-5 run over the next four-plus minutes to seize a 39-38 lead. David Easterling converted a free throw to even the score at 39, but Schilb's three-pointer put the Ramblers on top for good at 42-39.
Loyola, which led 46-41 at the half, broke open a six-point game early in the second half by going on a 17-2 run to open up a 77-56 lead, its largest of the evening. The Eagles rallied late, but were unable to claw their way back into the contest.
Freshman Leon Young was impressive in his Rambler debut, recording 18 points and 10 rebounds in 30 minutes off the bench, while fellow rookie J.R. Blount accounted for 13 points, three boards and a pair of steals.
Reggie George posted 27 points and 10 rebounds for Robert Morris.
Loyola kicks off the 2005-06 regular season when it travels to IPFW on Nov. 19.
