CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - A tough shooting night resulted in Loyola University Chicago's (4-1) first loss of the season as Northern Iowa (4-1) earned a 72-56 decision over the Ramblers at the UNI-Dome tonight. Loyola shot only 33 percent from the field, while the Panthers knocked down 53 percent of their shots.

The game was close for the first 14 minutes but UNI closed the first half on a 10-2 run to take a 31-21 lead at the break. Chris Logan scored 10 of his 12 points during the first half to help keep the Ramblers within striking distance. Loyola shot only 30 percent from the field in the opening period and freshmen J.R. Blount and Leon Young, who had been hot shooters of late, combined to hit only 1 of 11 shots in the first half.

A pair of foul shots by Young early in the second half closed the gap to 33-24 with 18:17 remaining, but Northern Iowa responded with 14 unanswered points to take a 47-24 lead and put the game out of reach.

Junior Blake Schilb extended his streak of games with double figures in scoring to 29 by posting a team-high 14 points to go with six rebounds. Logan added 12 points while Young finished with nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Northern Iowa was led by Ben Jacobson's 20 points.

Loyola looks to rebound when it opens up a three-game homestand beginning against Western Illinois on Dec. 6.
