OXFORD, Ohio - A strong final round of play helped the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team rally to tie for sixth place at the University of Cincinnati Collegiate Invite, which concluded this afternoon at Hueston Woods Golf Course. The Ramblers, who were positioned in ninth place after one round, posted a team score of 605 and finished only 16 strokes behind champion Northern Kentucky (589).
The Ramblers leapfrogged two teams, Duquesne and Toronto, thanks to a 296 today, to tie Niagara for sixth place.
Loyola freshman Thomas Greene carded a two-under-par 70, the third-lowest score of the round, today to wind up tied for seventh with a 147 (77-70). Sean Bidzinski, whose opening-round 74 was the Ramblers' best mark of the day, tied for 23rd with a 151 (74-77), while Armando Favela wound up tied for 32nd with a 153 (79-74). Peter Tomkie placed tied for 41st with a 154 (79-75) and Kevin Emmerich tied for 52nd with a 161 (84-77) to round out Loyola's lineup and John Caponigro also tied for 50th with a 160 (77-83).
The Ramblers are back in action this weekend when they compete at the Beu/Mussatto Invitational hosted by Western Illinois University, April 6-7.
