March 28, 2009

Final Stats

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Host Michigan (22-9) used an 11-run first inning to seize control of the game en route to a 13-0 victory over Loyola University Chicago (14-11) in game two of a doubleheader this afternoon. The Ramblers have dropped all four of their contests versus ranked teams this year.

Michigan broke the game open early, scoring 11 times on the strength of eight hits, in the bottom of the first inning. The big blow in the frame was a grand slam off the bat of left fielder Amanda Chidester, which was immediately followed by a solo homer from Nikki Nemitz.

Loyola managed three hits off of a pair of Michigan pitchers, with Bridget Lally, Kristin Guska and Stephanie Cihlar picking up singles.

Loyola takes the week off before returning to Horizon League action next weekend for its first home games of the 2009 campaign. The Ramblers host Valparaiso, April 4, in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
