CHICAGO - The Loyola University Chicago track & field programs head to Bloomington, Indiana, on Friday for the Gladstein Invitational. Hosted by Indiana University, the two-day meet will begin with field events at 2:30 p.m. CT Friday, followed by running events at 3:30 p.m. CT.
Last weekend, the Ramblers began the 2015 campaign at the Illini Classic in Champaign, Illinois. The Rambler men captured two event titles to place fourth overall, as Sam Penzenstadler won the 800m while the 4x400m relay team of Lino Mogorovic, Jaz Hayes, Peter Archibald and Kevin Glastetter won the Ramblers' second event title of the day in a come-from-behind win. Penzenstadler's time of 1:49.36 is currently the fastest in the Missouri Valley Conference and ranks sixth nationally.
The Ramblers also sit at the top of the conference in the 4x400m relay after the team of Jake Mazanke, Brady McCue, Peter Archibald and Kevin Glastetter clocked a time of 3:15.37 at the GVSU Laker Early Bird in December.
On the women's side, Breanna Walker (60m) and Jade Kinney (600m) each notched third-place finishes at the Illini Classic to lead the team to a sixth-place finish. Walker ranks third in the conference in two events (60m dash, 200m) after her performances at the GVSU Laker Early Bird, while Rebecca Stearns' 800m time of 2:18.03, recorded last weekend, is the third-fastest in the MVC.
Loyola returns to Bloomington next weekend for the Indiana Relays on Jan. 30-31.
