CHICAGO – After a historic performance at the Raleigh Relays, Loyola University Chicago's Nate Boutin has been named Atlantic 10 Track Performer of the Week, the conference office announced.
Boutin delivered a record-setting run in the men's 3,000m steeplechase, breaking the school record en route to a first-place finish in his heat. The junior clocked a personal-best time of 8:45.43, shaving 13 seconds off his previous best.
With the performance, Boutin became the first athlete in Loyola history to break the 8:50 barrier in the steeplechase.
His time currently ranks 12th in the NCAA this season and sits third in the Midwest Region.
