Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate Team & Player Leaderboards Through Two Rounds
VERONA, N.Y. -
Sophomore Garret Buckley fired a one-over-par 145 today to pace the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team through the opening 36 holes of the season-opening Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate in Verona, N.Y.
With a two-round tally of 613 (307-306), the Maroon & Gold currently sit in 13th place on the team leaderboard. Host Missouri (286-285) posted a blistering 571 to open up a seven-stroke lead over second-place Boston College (298-280=578) in the race for the team title. The Tigers' Wilson Sundvold used a seven-under-par 137 (69-68) to vault himself to the top of the individual leaderboard.
Buckley (75-71), a 2015 All-Missouri Valley Conference selection, looks to be picking up right where he left off following his rookie campaign in Rogers Park. The Novi, Mich. native, currently in a seven-way tie for 13th place, finds himself only a stroke outside the top ten on the individual leaderboard after backing up a first-round three-over-par 75 with a sparkling one-under-par 71 during the afternoon. Only four strokes back of Buckley is PJ Riner, the lone senior in action for the Ramblers in New York. Out of Johns Creek, Ga., Riner carded a six-over-par 150 (76-74) that puts him in a tie for 36th, alongside Missouri's Jacob Fair, heading into Monday's final round.
Freshman Orion Yamat turned in a 156 (79-77) in his collegiate debut, a mark that has the Niles, Ill. product in a tie for 60th. Junior Michael Valletti carded a 78 during first-round play en route to posting a 162 (78-84) for the day that has him in sole-possession of 76th place. Freshman Ben Olson rounded out the Rambler lineup on Sunday at 176 (91-85).
Play at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate will conclude on Monday.
