WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Rambler men's golf team wrapped up a two-day event at Purdue Tuesday afternoon. Loyola Chicago competed in the Purdue Fall Invitational on the par-72, 7,465-yard Kampen-Cosler course.
"We didn't have our best stuff this week as a team but there were certainly positives to take away from the week," said head coach Peter Pougnet. "We are looking forward to improving on a short week before we finish the fall season at Dayton."
Sebastian Kasun led the Ramblers, finishing +2 after three rounds. He scored 218 (70-74-74) to pace the pack and tie for 20
th. He led the team with 11 birdies, which tied 16
th in the tournament.
Next up for the Ramblers was
Dori Lee who tied for 23
rd on the charts. He posted a three-round score of 219 (76-70-73). He was also second on the team with eight birdies.
Zach Mulhearn trailed behind in 54
th place and a score of 227 (757-75-77). The senior golfer tallied a hole in one on the 13
th hole of the final round.
Charlie Kulwin and
Ryan Walsh wrapped up team play. Kulwin tied for 64
th with a score of 231 (78-80-74), while Walsh scored 232 (78-78-76) for 66
th place.
On the individual course,
Jackson Overton played a pair of rounds and tied for first, marking his first collegiate win. Overton was +1 with a score of 143 (74-69). His round of 69 marked a career-best round score.
"I'm super proud of Jackson and his round today to tie for his first college win," continued Pougnet. "He's been putting in a lot of work and he just continues to get better. Excited to see how he continues to develop."
The Ramblers conclude their fall season next week at the Flyer Invitational. Action begins Oct. 21 and wraps Oct. 21.
