Bradley Spring Invitational Results Through Two Rounds

PEORIA, Ill. - Senior PJ Riner fired a season-low three-under-par round of 69 to lead the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team on the opening day of the Bradley Spring Invitational in Peoria, Ill.

The Ramblers find themselves in fourth place on the team leaderboard after posting a 36-hole total of 619 (310-309) amidst cold and rainy conditions at the WeaverRidge Golf Club (par 72, 7,030 yards). Host Bradley sits atop the team standings (302-293=595), while the Braves' Lyle Burns (71-75=146) holds a one-shot edge over Riner in the race for medalist honors.

Riner bounced back from 78 in the morning with one of the strongest performances of his collegiate career during second-round play. The Johns Creek, Ga. native's 69 was the lowest 18-hole score of the day and was just a stroke off his career low of 68, set at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate last season. Riner's 36-hole tally of 147 (78-69) has him just a stroke shy of Burns on the individual leaderboard.

The duo of sophomore Kenny Mleko (77-79) and junior Michael Valletti (75-81) both sit in a tie for 17th after each posted a 156 on Sunday. Mleko posted back-to-back rounds in the 70s, while Valletti opened play with a solid three-over-par round of 75.

Freshman Orion Yamat is alone in 23rd at 160 (80-80) following consecutive rounds of 80. Sophomore Garret Buckley rounded out the Rambler quintet with a 161 (80-81) that has the Novi, Mich. product tied for 24th.

Final-round play at the Bradley Spring Invitational will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday morning.
