EIU Early Bird Final ResultsÂ

Paulina Gal and sophomore
Michael Papper both recorded new personal bests in their respective events to lead the Loyola University Chicago track & field teams this evening at the EIU Early Bird in Charleston, Ill.

Gal, a native of Burbank, Ill., further solidified her hold on the number two spot on the program's all-time indoor record board in the shot put, notching a top heave of 43-04.50 (13.22m) to earn a sixth-place finish. Papper, out of Northbrook, Ill., moved into a tie for eighth all-time at Loyola in the long jump as he used a leap of 21-11.00 (6.68m) to take fifth.

Senior
Stephen Hubona earned a runner-up finish in the men's weight throw to highlight the day for the Maroon & Gold in the throwing events. Hubona, who ranks third all-time in the event, reached 55-03.50 (16.85m) to close the day behind only Hunter Schuman of Indiana State (57-05.00; 17.50m).Â

Natajah Simmons and freshman
Tyler Elmore continued the strong starts to their seasons on the track. Simmons used a time of 7.72 to finish third in the women's 60m dash, while Elmore clocked in at 6.94 en route to claiming fourth on the men's side of the event.

Loyola will resume the indoor season on Jan. 20 when it heads north to Milwaukee, Wis. for the John Tierney Classic.Â
