SOUTH BEND, Ind. (February 3, 2018) – Redshirt junior
Lindsey Brewis set a new school record in the 3,000m run as the Loyola University Chicago track and field teams closed out competition at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. this afternoon.

"The Meyo Invitational is always one of those meets that we mark on our calendar as an opportunity to lay down some great marks," Loyola head track & field coach
Bob Thurnhoffer said. "It's a very exciting event and creates a high-level atmosphere that is similar to what we'll see at the conference meet. We had tons of breakthrough performances, highlighted by Lindsey's incredible showing in the 3,000m run. Next week will be just as big of a weekend for our program."

Brewis was phenomenal today in the 3,000m run for the Maroon & Gold. The Dearborn, Mich. native came across in 9:26.88, besting former Rambler great Gina Valgoi's previous school record by over three seconds, en route to finishing fourth overall. Senior
Emma Hatch also impressed in the event, taking 13
th at 9:46.89 to move up to eighth on Loyola's all-time record board. Brewis and Hatch currently rank second and third on the Missouri Valley Conference's 3,000m leaderboard. Senior
Cassie Bloch rounded out a strong day for Loyola's women's distance crew with a time of 4:52.31 in the mile run to finish 12
th and climb to fifth on the program's all-time indoor record board in the event.

"Lindsey ran a very smart race," Loyola assistant track & field coach
Alan Peterson commented.  "She ran the race that we talked about and didn't let others influence her. School records don't come around often, especially in such a storied program, making this all the more impressive."

Tyler Elmore led the charge for the Rambler men in the sprinting events at the Loftus Sports Center. Wells (48.76) and Edwards (49.11) checked in at 14
th and 18
th, respectively, in the 200m dash, while Elmore clocked a season-best 60m dash time of 6.93 to earn a fifth-place finish. On the women's side, the 4x400m relay of senior

Natajah Simmons and sophomores
Kyndall Wallace and
Lindsay Walters posted a season-best time of 3:52.35.

Competing at the Windy City Invitational in Hyde Park, junior
Regan Todhunter continued to shave time off of his own school record in the 60m hurdles as he cruised to victory in 8.38. In the field, seniors
Stephen Hubona and
Paulina Gal both set new personal bests. Hubona finished second in the weight throw, registering a top toss of 57-11.50 (17.67m), while Gal won the shot put with a top mark of 45-00.25 (13.72m).

Loyola faces another busy stretch next weekend, Feb. 9-10, when it sends athletes to the SPIRE D1 Invitational in Geneva, Ohio, the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Mich. and the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
