Stan Lyons Invitational Results
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 17, 2018) – Eight members of the Loyola University Chicago track & field teams claimed event titles as the Ramblers opened the outdoor portion of their schedule today at the Stan Lyons Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind.
"We battled through 30 degree temperatures, sleet and wind but fought hard and executed well," Loyola head track & field coach
Bob Thurnhoffer said. "More than that, it's an incredibly exciting time to be a Rambler and we're taking inspiration from the basketball squad. We can't wait to get out to Southern Illinois next week!"
Redshirt junior
Lindsey Brewis looked to pick up right where she left off during the indoor season as she rolled to a victory in the 1,500m run. The Dearborn, Mich. product came across in 4:30.79, the ninth fastest time in program history. On the men's side of the 1,500m run, sophomore
Riley DeMeulenaere earned a runner-up finish in 4:01.49. In the 3,000m run, junior
Kevin White impressed, posting a time of 8:38.30 as he cruised to victory.
In the sprinting events, junior
Regan Todhunter (15.57) and sophomore
Constantine Beniaris (15.98) finished first and second, respectively, in the 110m hurdles. Beniaris picked up a victory in the high jump, where he cleared 6-00.75 (1.85m). In the 400m hurdles, freshman
Vince DiVenere came across first in 56.04. Sophomore
Michael Edwards checked in at 22.48 to take home the 200m dash title, while sophomore
Denee' Lawrence crossed in 12.62 to win the 100m dash. Sophomore
Mackenzie Arnold wrapped an impressive day for the Ramblers, winning the long jump with a top leap of 17-00.50 (5.19m).
Loyola continues the outdoor campaign next Saturday at the Bill Cornell Classic in Carbondale, Ill.
