IOWA CITY, Iowa (April 12, 2018) – The Loyola University Chicago track & field teams posted 10 new marks to the program's outdoor record boards to highlight an impressive afternoon at the Musco Twilight in Iowa City, Iowa.

"It was so refreshing to compete in great weather today," Loyola head track & field coach
Bob Thurnhoffer said. "We got out there and had the meet we've been looking for. Just about everyone set season bests. Eric (Burns) took over the MVC lead in the long jump, while Tyler (Elmore) and Kevin (White) moved way up the conference rankings. Mimi (Reimers) looks primed for a huge breakout here soon. Both 4x100m relays showed they are ready to contend for a podium spot at the conference meet."

Freshman
Tyler Elmore continued his breakout season today in Eastern Iowa. The Bolingbrook, Ill. native opened the meet by teaming up with junior
Leron Norton and sophomores
Michael Edwards and
Michael Papper in the 4x100m relay to post a time of 41.25 that ranks 10
th overall in program history. Elmore followed that up by winning his heat of the 100m dash in 10.64, moving to fifth all-time at Loyola, before clocking a 200m dash personal-best of 21.47. Papper added personal bests of his own, alongside Elmore, in both the 100m (11.08) and 200m (22.31) dashes.Â

In the women's sprinting events, junior
Natajah Simmons, sophomore
Denee' Lawrence, and freshmen
Lauren Kroll and
Molly Reighard joined forces to turn in the fifth fastest 4x100m relay time in school history, coming across in 46.86. Simmons went on to lead the quartet in the 100m dash, checking in at 12.20, as all four recorded new season-best times in the event, with Kroll (12.45) and Reighard (12.49) entering the school's top 10 in the event. Both Simmons (24.78) and Kroll (25.32) also turned in strong showings in the 200m dash.
In the men's 3,000m run, redshirt senior
Alex Baker, senior
Peter Schaible and sophomore
Derek Rink all turned in standout showings that saw them move up on the program's record board. Baker took fifth overall with a sparkling time of 8:31.92, the second fastest time in school history. Schaible (7th, 8:35.15) moved up to fourth, while Rink (11th, 8:43.74) further solidified his hold on the number 10 spot.

Emily McCoy cracked the program's all-time top 10 in the 3,000m steeplechase. McCoy finished in 11:33.80, a time that moves her up into the number nine spot. On the men's side of the event, sophomore
Max O'Meara (9:53.44) and freshman
Miles Kanipe (9:55.32) came in first and second, respectively. Junior
Kevin White made his 800m outdoor debut, taking fourth place in 1:51.03. In the women's 1,500m run, freshman
Mimi Reimers recorded a massive personal best as she posted a time of 4:43.36 en route to a heat victory.

The trio of senior
Kiera Washpun and sophomores
Eric Burns and
Mackenzie Arnold led the way for the Maroon & Gold in the long jump. Washpun earned a runner-up finish in the women's edition of the event with a season-best leap of 18-09.00 (5.71m), while Arnold moved into a tie for fourth all-time at Loyola after reaching 18-00.25 (5.49m). In the men's long jump, Burns notched a mark of 23-09.00 (7.24m), also a season-best, to take second overall and move to the top of the Missouri Valley Conference leaderboard in the event.

Loyola will head west next weekend, April 19-21, as it visits the state of California for the Mt. SAC Relays, Bryan Clay Invitational and Beach Invitational.
