ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (April 24, 2018) – Led by several standout performances in the sprinting events, the Loyola University Chicago track & field teams enjoyed a successful all-around day as they competed at the Lewis Twilight in suburban Romeoville, Ill. today.

"We came out to Lewis to get some quality competition in some nice weather and we did just that," Loyola head track & field coach
Bob Thurnhoffer commented.  "We saw countless season and personal bests posted today. We're right where we need to be and it was so exciting to see so many breakout performances in one meet."

Loyola's women's sprinters accounted for three new additions to the program's record boards this afternoon. The 4x100m relay of junior
Natajah Simmons, sophomore
Denee' Lawrence, and freshmen
Lauren Kroll and
Molly Reighard turned in the ninth fastest time in school history, coming across in 47.25 en route to a first-place finish.Â

The aforementioned quartet went on to dominate in both the 100m and 200m dashes. Kroll (12.28) and Reighard (12.38) moved up to seventh and ninth, respectively, on the 100m dash record board, while Simmons turned in a season-best mark of 11.99. Lawrence led the group in the 200m dash, where she captured the event title in 24.85, as part of a showing that saw the Maroon & Gold occupy the top four spots on the final leaderboard. Sophomore
Lindsay Walters turned in a season-best time of her own in the 400m dash, checking in at 58.39.

Junior
Regan Todhunter and freshman
Vince DiVenere both ascended the record boards in their respective events. Todhunter became only the second Rambler to crack the 15-second mark in the 110m hurdles when he clocked a time of 14.94, the second fastest in school history, in a preliminary heat before besting that mark in his final run of the day, checking in at 14.76. DiVenere continued his impressive debut campaign with the Maroon & Gold, climbing to eighth all-time in the 400m hurdles following a personal-best of 54.57. Fellow freshman
Joe Reich turned in a personal-best of 22.55 as he claimed a heat victory in the 200m dash.

Redshirt senior
Nicholas Prajka cruised to a win in the 800m run, coming through in 1:53.72. Senior
Peter Schaible finished first in the 3,000m run in 8:35.95 as sophomore
Derek Rink (8:36.99) and freshmen
Miles Kanipe (8:49.21) and
Mateo Nunez (8:52.48) checked in second though fourth. Rink's time elevated him up to the six spot on Loyola's 3,000m run record board.

In the field, freshman
Gift Chinda posted the third longest triple jump mark in program history, reaching 46-06.25 (14.18m) as he took third place in the event. Sophomore
Mackenzie Arnold earned a runner-up finish (17-06.50; 5.35m) in the women's long jump, while senior
Sylvester Pydych narrowly missed out a personal best on the men's side of the event, notching a top leap of 21-11.75 (6.70m) to come in fourth.
