CHICAGO (July 5, 2018) – Will Alcock (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community), a 6-foot-7 forward, has been added to the 2018-19 Loyola University Chicago men's basketball roster as a preferred walk-on, Ramblers head coach
Porter Moser announced today. Alcock spent the last three seasons on the varsity team at Zionsville Community High School in Zionsville, Indiana.
"Will is the perfect fit for our culture as a high-character young man who has a passion to play basketball," Moser said. "What impressed us most was Will's mobility to defend and his length."
During the 2017-18 campaign, Alcock averaged 6.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game in helping the Eagles to a 22-4 record and their first sectional title since 1995, when current Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens starred on the team. A team captain as a senior, Alcock gathered All-Hoosier Crossroads Conference Honorable Mention honors.
He helped Zionsville to conference titles in each of his three years on the varsity squad, with the program collecting 59 total wins over those seasons.
Loyola notched a program-record 32 victories in 2017-18 en route to its first NCAA Final Four appearance since winning the NCAA championship in 1963. The Ramblers return three starters from last season's squad, including 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America selection
Clayton Custer.
