CHICAGO (January 31, 2019) – Coming off a strong showing at the Black & Gold Premier, the Loyola University Chicago track & field teams will split squads for the first time this weekend. The Ramblers will be in action at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind., while a smaller contingent will see action closer to home at the Windy City Invitational in Chicago, Ill.
Events at the two-day Meyo Invitational get underway at 3 p.m. (CT) on Friday afternoon with the women's long jump. The women's 60m hurdles semifinals get Saturday's slate rolling at 8:45 a.m. (CT), with the men's 4x400m relay capping off the meet at 3:05 p.m. (CT). ACC Network Extra will provide live coverage on Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT). A link to watch, along with those for a meet schedule and live results, can be found above. Events at the Windy City Invitational will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday inside the Henry Crown Field House on the campus of the University of Chicago.

Gift Chinda highlighted the day for the Maroon & Gold at last Saturday's Black & Gold Premier in Iowa City, Iowa. Burns picked up his third long jump victory of the indoor season, reaching 23-04.75 (7.13m). Chinda enjoyed a breakout performance in the triple jump, posting a two-foot personal best of 49-01.75 (14.98m) that earned him a runner-up finish and rocketed him to the top of the Missouri Valley Conference leaderboard in the event.
On the track, seniors
Natajah Simmons and
Regan Todhunter both shined. Simmons clocked a 60m dash season-best of 7.79 en route to a seventh-place finish, while Todhunter again shattered his own 60m hurdles school record, checking in at 8.35. Sophomore
Emmanuel Champagne led the charge for an impressive effort by the Rambler men in the 3,000m run, taking sixth overall with a personal best time of 8:31.38.
Loyola will again split squads next weekend, February 8-9, with athletes set to compete at both the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa and the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Mich.
