CHICAGO (November 1, 2019) – Five Loyola University Chicago student-athletes were inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu this past weekend including Lindsey Hardiman (women's soccer), Alexis Meyer, (women's basketball) and Katie Polaski, (softball). Alpha Sigma Nu is the Honor Society of Jesuit institutions of higher education. Induction to the Society is one of the highest honors awarded at Jesuit institutions.
Hardiman (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township), a junior nursing major with a psychology minor, carries a 3.93 grade-point average. The midfielder has found the back of the net twice for the Ramblers this year, both of which were game-winners. Hardiman has started in 14 matches for the Maroon & Gold and put nine of her shots on target.
Meyer (Portland, Ore./Westview), a junior marketing major with a 3.90 grade-point average, is in her second year as President of Loyola Student-Athlete Advisory Council. Meyer battled a knee injury last season that forced her to miss non-conference play, but she averaged 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in her 18 appearances, hitting on 60 percent (30-for-50) of her field goal attempts. In Loyola's 71-27 exhibition win over St. Francis on Tuesday, Meyer grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.
Gopika Patel (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South), a junior biology major, carries a 3.88 grade-point average. The defender has contributed to the success of the Ramblers backline in the last two-plus seasons, starting in 32 matches.
Radhika Patel (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South), a junior biology major, carries a 3.91 grade-point average. The goalkeeper has recorded six saves and only allowed one goal in her career as a Rambler.
Polaski (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North), a junior business major, carries a 3.85 grade-point average. The second baseman set personal bests in doubles, (five), triples (two) and RBI (14) last season and notched hits in three of her six at-bats with the bases loaded. Polaski also averaged .314, .386 and .490 in Rambler victories.
Juniors, seniors and graduate students who are in the top 15% of their class and have a demonstrated record of service and loyalty to the Jesuit ideals of education are eligible and 4% of the class is inducted.
