Ramblers coming off productive two-day stretch at Meyo Invitational

CHICAGO (February 13, 2020) – Coming off a weekend in which it posted multiple season-best marks, the Loyola University Chicago track & field teams will head to Allendale, Mich. this weekend for the GVSU Big Meet.

Action inside the Kelly Family Sports Center on the campus of Grand Valley State University will begin on Friday morning at 8 a.m. (CT) with the opening heat of the men's 5,000m run.  The open sections of the high jump and long jump kick off the day's field offerings at 11 a.m. (CT).  Saturday's full slate will get underway with the women's 60m hurdles preliminaries and the men's and women's long jump at 9 a.m. (CT).  FloTrack will provide full coverage of both days of action.  A link to watch, along with those for live results and a full schedule of events, can be found to the right.

Loyola women's distance crew shined at last week's Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind.  In the 3,000m run, the trio of sophomore Claire Hengesbaugh (9:48.09) and juniors Mimi Reimers (9:50.01) and Tarynn Cullings (9:50.11) moved into the third through fifth spots on the Missouri Valley Conference leaderboard in the event.  Senior Rita Maurais (4:57.15) and sophomore Anneka Murrin (4:58.24) both impressed in the mile run, each posting sub-five minute times.  Leading the way for Loyola's men's distance squad was senior Riley DeMeulenaere, who clocked a 15:45.81 to move to second on the MVC's 5,000m run chart.

Freshman Isabel Velasco turned heads in the sprinting events, shattering the program's 60m hurdles school record following a run of 8.75 in a preliminary heat.  The Maroon & Gold women's 4x400m relay of seniors Denee' Lawrence, Lindsay Walters, junior Molly Reighard, and sophomore Jordyn Blake teamed up to clock a season-best 3:51.05 that puts them fourth overall in The Valley.

In the field, junior Gift Chinda placed fifth (48-04.00; 14.73m) in the triple jump, while fellow junior Tobi Alabi notched a personal-best 48-00.75 (14.65m) to finish sixth.  Sophomore Sarah Olojo took fifth on the women's side of the event, matching her personal best with a jump of 40-01.25 (12.22m), while senior Constantine Beniaris cleared a personal-best 6-07.00 (2.01m) to land sixth in the high jump.
