CHICAGO (Nov. 11, 2021) – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced today the recipients of the CoSIDA Academic All-District award, which recognizes collegiate student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. For his work on and off the field during the 2021 season, Billy Hency was named to the All-District 5 team. 
 
To even be nominated for this award, student athletes must have above a 3.3 GPA and be a key contributor to their team's success on the field. 
 
This season, Hency leads the Missouri Valley Conference in almost every offensive category. He ranks No. 1 in points (26), goals (9), assists (8) and game-winning goals (3) while earning a second-place spot for shots (40) and shots on goal (14). He was also a three-time MVC Offensive Player of the Week this season. 
 
Along with these accolades, Hency is the reigning MVC Player of the Year and Midfielder of the Year for the 2020-21 season. He was an All-MVC First Team selection at that time. While earning these awards, he also was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete team, which is based on academic and athletic achievement.
 
Along with that, Hency was a part of the team's volunteering efforts with Common Illinois, which helped register people to vote as well as help voters get to the polls. 

Hency is a supply chain management major with a 3.74 GPA. He is also a finalist for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award.
 
Now that he received CoSIDA All-District accolades, he now will move onto the next round where he could possibly receive CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
