CHICAGO (May 5, 2021) – For the first time in his career,
Adam Clayton (Glasgow, Scotland/Williamwood), a junior on the Loyola University Chicago men's track & field team, has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Clayton broke Jaz Hayes' six-year-old program record in the 200m dash last Saturday at the Illinois State Invitational, placing first overall in 20.92 as he became just the fourth Rambler in program history to crack the 21-second barrier in the event. He also moved to third all-time in school history in the 100m dash, running 10.47 in a preliminary heat.

A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Clayton's time from this past weekend currently resides atop The Valley's 200m dash chart. The junior is also in prime position to qualify for the NCAA West Preliminary, ranking 35
th in the event on the regional leaderboard.

Loyola closes the outdoor regular season on Friday, May 7 at the Pacesetter Sports Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind.
