CHICAGO (October 16, 2022) – After taking another victory last week at the Loyola Parkinson Invitational, the Loyola University Chicago women's golf team prepares to lower the curtain on their fall season at the Chippewa Invitational in Birmingham, Mich.
The Ramblers open play at the par-72, 5,897-yard Birmingham Country Club on Monday morning, with round one beginning with a 9 a.m. (CT) shotgun start. Final round action gets underway on Tuesday morning with another 9 a.m. (CT) start. Live scoring will be available through the Golf Genius app.
The Ramblers join a nine-team field that includes host Central Michigan, Bowling Green, Bellarmine University, North Carolina A&T, Oakland, Detroit Mercy, Toledo, and Western Michigan.
Head coach
Brandy Johnston runs with the same starting five from last week's winning squad, with graduate student
Lorenza Martinez, junior
Abby Thielbar, sophomores
Grace Suter and
Jolie Brochu, and freshman
Adie Maki. On the individual side, Junior
Kate Meier and senior
Caroline Dayton are back in the lineup after playing last week as individuals.
Loyola took the victory in convincing fashion, with Martinez having her strongest week as a Rambler. The Menomonee Falls, Wis. product fired a 226 (77-73-76) to take runner-up honors and finish just one shot behind the leader. Thielbar finished one shot behind Martinez to secure a share of a 3
rd place. Both of these are career-best finishes for them.
After the conclusion of the Chippewa Invitational, the Ramblers will open their spring slate at the Sea Best Intercollegiate, February 13-14, in Jacksonville, Fla.
