Three Ramblers Receive Missouri Valley Conference Accolades

Abbey Jacobsen, Peyton Pepkowski and Madison Ebeling received All-Missouri Valley Conference honors.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.  (May 11, 2022) – The Missouri Valley Conference released the names of the student-athletes who made it onto the all-conference and specialty teams. After votes from coaches, Loyola University Chicago Softball had three players made it on the list.

Senior Abbey Jacobsen and freshman Peyton Pepkowski were the two Ramblers to make it on the All-Missouri Valley Conference Second Team in their respective positions while senior Madison Ebeling grabbed a spot on the All-MVC Defensive Team.

Jacobsen had her best season to date, which came primarily during Valley play. The catcher has an overall .278 batting average at the end of the regular season as she finished the conference season with a .340. She has the most hits on the team with 30 while getting seven doubles and two home runs along the way. Along with that, Jacobsen was a force on defense. She was one of the top 25 athletes in the country when it came to catching runners stealing, tallying 14 on the season. She also leads the Ramblers in fielding percentage with a .992, completing 238 plays and only making two errors.

Pepkowski is the other Rambler to earn a spot on the All-Missouri Valley Conference Second Team after a standout freshman season. In just her first season, the pitcher had a 2.98 ERA, striking out 152 batters. She was the fastest freshman to reach this milestone since Loyola Softball legend Brittany Gardner in 2011.

Rounding out the award winners is Ebeling. The shortstop continued with her success on the field this season with All-Defensive Team honors. She contributed key plays throughout the season in the middle of the field, working with Jacobsen to catch runners stealing while also making athletic plays to keep her team in the game. Overall, Ebeling finished the season with 58 putouts and 62 assists for a .962 fielding percentage.
