CHESTERTON, Ind. (September 19, 2022) – Led by a strong performance by senior
Timmy Crawford, the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team sits in fifth place following the conclusion of day one at the Valparaiso Fall Invitational. Teams were able to complete the first 18-holes before the second round was called due to darkness.
The Ramblers combined to shoot a team score of 294, placing them in a tie for 5
th with former Missouri Valley Conference rival Missouri State. Host Valparaiso (284) holds a six-shot lead over DePaul (290) for the overall lead.
Crawford started his round with a bogey but quickly birdied the par-five sixth hole to put him back under par for his round. The Arlington Heights, Ill. native feasted on par fives all day, playing them at four under-par to place near the top of the field in par-five scoring. Crawford went on to post a two under-par 70 to place in a tie for 3
rd and one shot off of the individual lead.
Senior
Zach Walsh was close on Crawford's heels, with a bogey-free front-nine to card a one under-par 71. The Chesterfield, Mo. product sits just one stroke off of Crawford and is currently in a tie for 7
th. Graduate student
Tyler Anderson recorded a 76 to give him a share of 40
th. The freshman pairing of
Ryan Walsh (77) and
Dori Lee (78) sit within a stroke of each other, with Walsh in a tie for 48
th with a 77 and Lee in a tie for 61
st with a 78. Freshman
Charlie Kulwin joins Lee on the individual leaderboard with a 78 of his own.
The Ramblers will complete their second round on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. (CT) and begin the final round of the Valparaiso Fall Invitational shortly after.
