CHICAGO (Jan. 2, 2022) — Loyola University Chicago Athletics mourns the death of men's soccer alumnus Mark Strothkamp ('94), who passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2022. To honor Mark's memory, the family requests memorial tributes be made to assist Mark's family with expenses in the months ahead. At Loyola, Mark was team captain and earned several accolades including NSCAA All-Midwest Region Team, Midwestern Collegiate Conference First Team All-Conference and All-Newcomer Teams and was voted Loyola Chicago's Male Student-Athlete of the Year. He ranks fourth all-time at Loyola for most assists recorded in a season (11).
Mark served as an assistant coach at Loyola from 1994 to 1996 and then participated in the inaugural MLS Draft combine in 1996. Mark, who carried a USSF National C License and RMA Technical Diplomas (Levels 100-400), has coached at Hoosier Football Club since 2014 in Indianapolis.
