SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (March 14, 2023) – Following another strong week from senior
Timmy Crawford, the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team finished in sixth place at the Donald Ross Collegiate Classic in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
The Ramblers combined to shoot an 871 (296-287-288) as a team, finishing ahead of Atlantic 10 rivals George Mason (294-285-313=892), and Saint Joseph's (300-299-298=897).
"Another week we are all very pleased with," said head coach
Erik Hoops. "A good finish against a field of this caliber means nothing but good things for our program. Just continuing to build momentum for this run. Beating a lot of Atlantic 10 schools means we know we can compete."
Crawford came through for the Ramblers for his second runner-up finish in as many weeks. The Arlington Heights, Illinois product wrapped up his second round in the morning, carding a five-under-par 67 before following it up with a four-under 68 in his final round to finish his week with a 205 (70-67-68).
Senior
Zach Walsh concluded his second round in the morning, needing one hole to put the finishing touches on a one-under-par 71. He followed it up with another 71 in his final round to finish just outside the top-10 with a 216 (T-11; 74-71-71). Freshmen
Charlie Kulwin (78-73-74) and
Dori Lee (74-76-75) finished in a share of 47
th with a 225 while classmate
Sebastian Kasun finished his week with a 237 (T-84; 80-79-78).
"I don't want to sound like a broken record, but it was another fantastic week for Timmy," Hoops added. "He's one of the best in the A10 right now. Also, a shoutout to his classmate Zach. Another great week as well."
The Ramblers will be back in action at the Any Given Tuesday Invitational, March 27-29, in Pawley's Island, South Carolina.
