DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 7, 2023) – After 54-holes, the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team takes home a second-place finish at the Daytona Invitational in Daytona Beach Florida.

"I'm incredibly proud of the guys this week," said head coach
Erik Hoops. "Without any practice rounds outside, to come down here and compete and have a chance to win this week speaks volumes to the work these guys have been doing on campus. We can only use this as a springboard for the next month and a half on our way to the Atlantic 10 Championship. We had contributions from across the squad, especially today."

The Ramblers wrapped up the tournament with a team score of 880 (294-297-289), saving their best round for last with a 289 in their final round. Their score put them in a tie for second place with Longwood (296-292-292).

Senior
Timmy Crawford finished just a stroke short of medalist honors, following up his second-round 70 with another one in his final round to place in second with a 208 (68-70-70).

"I can't say enough about Timmy this week," Hoops added after the round. "He's proving why he is one of our best players in the history of the program. I have no doubt he is going to use this as fire for the next tournament."

Matching Crawford's final round tally was fellow senior
Zach Walsh, who fired his low round of the week with a final-round 70 to place in a share of 32
nd with a 223 (75-78-70). Coming up right behind him was freshman
Charlie Kulwin in 39
th with a 225 (76-72-77). Freshman
Sebastian Kasun carded his low round of the week with an even-par 72 in his final round to cap off a 230 (T-63
rd; 75-83-72) while freshman
Ryan Walsh rounded out the leaderboard with a 236 (T-87
th; 76-77-83).

The Ramblers are back in action in a week, taking part in the Donald Ross Collegiate Classic, March 13-14, in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
