NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (March 8, 2023) – After throwing her first career no-hitter, Loyola's
Peyton Pepkowski has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Pitcher of the Week as announced by league headquarters on Wednesday. It's her second career conference Pitcher of the Week award, as the sophomore becomes the first Loyola softball player in program history to earn a weekly A-10 honor. She earned Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week last season.
Pepkowski, a right-handed pitcher from St. John, Ind., held Butler hitless during a 7-0 win for the Ramblers last Sunday. She faced two batters above the minimum, throwing 87 pitches with four strikeouts and one walk. She induced 11 flyouts and six groundouts during the impressive performance in the circle. It marked the seventh no-hitter in program history.
Overall, Pepkowski went 1-1 over the weekend in 13.0 innings with 10 strikeouts. She's 4-4 on the season with a 4.09 earned-run average, 42 strikeouts and 26 walks.
Saint Louis' Gabbie Kowalik and George Mason's Elyssa DeRosa were named A-10 Player of the Week and A-10 Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Loyola (4-14) returns to action this weekend when it travels to San Luis Obispo, Calif., where it will compete in the Mustang Classic hosted by Cal Poly.
