ORLANDO, Fla. (April 30, 2023) – After three strong days of competition, the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team took runner-up honors at the Atlantic 10 Championship in their inaugural season in the conference.

The Ramblers closed their weekend out with a 299 in their final round, giving them a total of 873 (289-285-299). Davidson took the team victory with an 865 (284-281-300) while Alex Heffner (69-67-70=206) captured individual medalist honors.

"Wow, what a week," said Loyola head coach
Erik Hoops. "I told the guys last night that our goal every year is to go into the final round of our conference championship with a chance to win. We had a good chance today and played a good round but unfortunately came up just a bit short. Still unbelievably proud of how we competed. We're here to compete in this conference and we showed that today."

Senior
Timmy Crawford paced the Ramblers on the leaderboard, with an eagle on his final hole propelling him to a 69 in his third round. The Arlington Heights, Ill. product finished his weekend with a 210 (73-68-69) to finish in second place, earning him All-Conference honors.Â

"Not enough can be said about Timmy this year," Hoops added. "He's been an unbelievable leader for us this year and has truly had one of the best seasons/careers ever in our program. If we retired jerseys, his would be in our rafters."

Joining Crawford in the top-10 were freshmen
Charlie Kulwin and
Sebastian Kasun. Kulwin finished a career weekend where he set a new career-low with a 69 in his second round, setting a new 54-hole low with a 216 (72-69-75) to place in fourth. Kasun put together three strong rounds to finish in 9
th with a 219 (70-76-73). Senior
Zach Walsh wrapped up his weekend with a 244 (81-81-82; T53).

"The freshmen were amazing this week," said Hoops. "They both competed so well for their first conference championship. The future of our program looks to be in a very good spot with these guys."

Sunday's round saw the Loyola career of
Tyler Anderson come to a close, with the graduate student placing in 36
th with a 232 (74-72-86). Joining the team in 2017, Anderson appeared in 115 rounds for the Maroon & Gold, earning his highest finish for the Ramblers in 2018, taking victory at the Zach Johnson Invitational.

"It's going to be strange not having Tyler returning next year," Hoops added. "He's been a staple for our program for six years and gave absolutely everything to both our program and school. I'm very proud of all that he's accomplished here."Â Â

The Ramblers finish the year with three runner-up finishes as a team. Coach Hoops now prepares for the 2023-24 season, where he is set to welcome back six letterwinners.
