CHICAGO -- Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt, BVM, the men's basketball team chaplain at Loyola University Chicago, has been named to the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2023. The formal induction ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 4 at Wintrust Arena.
 
"We are thrilled with the lineup of our 2023 class. All of our award winners and inductees are the most deserving and iconic Chicago legends of sport," said CSHOF President Charles P. Carey. "Each year the CSHOF board works tirelessly to program an event and induction ceremony that celebrates the very best individuals in Chicago sporting history to continue our cause of supporting education and athletic programs for underprivileged youth. Our 2023 ceremony is going to be a night to remember."
 
The popular Sister Jean, who will be celebrating her 104^th birthday later this summer and is an icon on the Loyola campus, is 1-of-14 members to be inducted this year into the Hall of Fame.
 
Included in the list of this year's honorees are the likes of Devin Hester (Chicago Bears), Jack McDowell (Chicago White Sox), Brian Campbell (Chicago Blackhawks) and Joe Crede (Chicago White Sox). Hometown heroes will also be enshrined, including Ronnie Fields (CBA/Farragut Academy), Robert Smith (Simeon Academy), Eric Steinbach (NFL/Providence Catholic High School), Mary Wise (University of Florida women's volleyball head coach/Evanston High School), and more.
 
The Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame, founded in 1979, pays tribute to the sports legends whose careers have thrilled, entertained and enriched fans' lives with unforgettable moments of greatness.
