CHICAGO – The Loyola Chicago track & field team is back in action this week at the Elmhurst Twilight Invitational tomorrow (April 25). The Ramblers ride the momentum of six program top-10 times and 14 personal records at the Brian Clay Invitational and Leopard Distance Carnival.
Most recently in Azusa, Calif.,
Jason Clayton won the men's 1,500m with a blistering time of 3:42.75 at the Bryan Clay. Clayton's time is the fastest by any A-10 runner this season in the event by nearly four seconds. His performance led to his first A-10 Track Performer of the Week nod of the outdoor season.
Other Ramblers who notched program record top-10 times were
Gabe Smit who, at the Bryan Clay, ran a personal record of 9:08.56 in the men's 3,000m steeple to land ninth all-time. On the women's end of the 3,000m steeple,
Roisin Treacy clocked a 10:49.06 to remain third all-time.
At the Leopard Distance Carnival,
Aiden Grasse notched a PR time of 11:21.10 in the 3,000m steeple. She landed 10th all-time.
Additionally at the Bryan Clay and in the women's 10k event,
Grace Jostock set a personal record with a time of 35:26.03, securing the ninth-fastest time in Loyola history. In the men's 5k,
Jake Phillips achieved a seven-second personal best with a time of 14:16.04, also placing him ninth on the all-time list. Meanwhile,
Kate Wojcikiewicz won her heat in the 800m, clocking in at 2:12.38, marking a new personal record and the 10th-fastest time.
Thursday's event will take place at Langhorst Field in Elmhurst, Ill.. Running events will commence at 3 p.m.
