WASHINGTON, D.C. – Loyola softball's
Teagan Sopczak was named an Atlantic 10 Postgraduate Award winner. Sopczak is one of 15 winners across the league. The A-10 honors outstanding student-athletes, who excel in academics and athletics, with scholarships to pursue their studies following completion of their undergraduate degrees.
To be considered for the Postgraduate Scholarship, student-athletes must have performed with distinction both in the classroom and in their respective sports throughout their career, while demonstrating exemplary conduct in the community.
Sopczak graduated this spring with her undergraduate degree in finance where she posted a 3.84 cumulative GPA. She will pursue her Juris Doctorate at Chicago-Kent College of Law beginning this fall.
The Tinley Park native was a four-year member of Rambler softball where she was a fixture in the outfield, making over 180 career appearances and over 170 starts.
During her tenure, Sopczak hit .225 at the plate with over 100 career hits, including nine doubles, two triples, and five home runs. She totaled 46 RBI and 59 runs over her career.
Sopczak's senior season was her best yet. The senior started 53 games in center field. She hit .274 with 40 total hits, including seven doubles, a triple, and four homers. She brought in 27 RBI and scored a 30 times.
