FAYETVILLE, Ark. – Racing in the NCAA Track and Field Championships' Preliminary 1,500m, Loyola Chicago's
Jason Clayton advanced to west region's quarterfinal round after finishing in the top-5 of his heat Wednesday afternoon at Arkansas' John McDonnell Field.
Clayton clocked a 3:43.10, finishing fifth in his heat and 26
th overall. He's one-of-24 student-athletes advancing to Friday's quarterfinals. Last time out, Clayton was crowned Atlantic 10 Champion in the same event.
Following Clayton later that night was
Chris Devaney who competed in the 10K semifinals. The graduate student fell out of the top-12 after being tripped by a competitor a mile into the race, ending his illustrious collegiate career. The A-10 Champion holds four top-3 all-time records at Loyola, including the fastest-ever 10K time ran by a Rambler.
Clayton's 1,500m quarterfinals race will begin this Friday (May 24) at approximately 5:15 p.m. CT. The event will be lived streamed on ESPN+.

Emma Watcke's 1,500m first round is set to take place tomorrow (May 23) at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
