Kite Takes Second in Fall Finale

CHICAGO – Loyola Chicago women's golf wrapped up fall action with a third-place team finish at the Western Michigan Bronco Fall Classic. Three Ramblers also fell in the top-10 with Reese Kite leading the way in second.

Loyola was +65 after the three rounds (309-308-314/929).

"We tried our best to make a run today and came up a little bit short," said head coach Brandy Johnston. "The conditions were incredibly tough, but everyone kept a good attitude all day; played with a lot of grit, and finished strong which was as great to see."

Kite landed tied for second on the leaderboard with a +9 finish, marking her first every top-five and top-10 finish. She scored 225 (73-76-76). Her score of 73 in the first round matches her career-best score.

Cassie Psuik and Madison Haugen tied for ninth on the leaderboards, scoring 233. Psuik's best round came in the second with a score of 73, while Haugen scored 77 in the third for her best. This marks Psuik's second top-10 finish of the year and Haugen's first.

Grace Hui tied for 25th (81-81-82/241) and Teagan Connors tied 29th (79-80-87/246) to wrap up team play.

As an individual, Maureen O'Leary scored 237 (79-80-78) and tied for 16th.

"We have a lot to be proud of as we close out the fall," continued Johnston. "Despite losing two impactful players to graduation last spring, our fall scoring average was nearly three strokes better this fall as compared to last. We had three players post rounds under par, several top-10 individual finishes, and the team posted a score of four-over par at the Murray State Invite which ranks fourth in school history."

The Ramblers will take a quick break before returning in February to start the spring schedule. Loyola will play in five invitationals before competing for an Atlantic 10 Championship in April.

"I'm really proud of the returners who put in the work over the summer which showed in their improved scoring averages, and the freshmen have transitioned to college seamlessly and have made a big impact. The spring results won't be determined by how we played on the fall. Our work moving forward will do that. That being said, there's a lot to be excited about and I can't wait to get the team back out there in February," finished Johnston.
