CHICAGO – The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) named Loyola Chicago's Ryan McElligott as the Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league's office on Wednesday afternoon. It marks the first weekly league honor of his career.
McElligott instrumented Loyola's offense with the match-high 51 assists at then-No. 12 Ball State on Friday, March 7 to help lift the Ramblers to their sixth conference victory. He also added five digs, three kills on .333 hitting and two block assists against the Cardinals.
Hailing from Mundelein, Ill., McElligott leads the MIVA in assists, averaging 10.96/set, and also ranks seventh in service aces/set (0.42). The junior setter is also featured in the national statistics, ranking second in assists/set and 35th in aces/set.
The weekly offensive nod is the fifth this season for the Ramblers, who take on the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons this Friday, March 14 at 6 p.m. CT.
