CLEVELAND – Loyola University Chicago's Athletics Department earned its second-highest finish ever in the LEARFIELD Directors' Cup Standings for the 2024-25 academic year, totaling 137 points. The Directors' Cup recognizes institutions with broad-based athletic programs that achieve success across NCAA sports.
Loyola placed fourth among Atlantic 10 Conference schools and ranked 16th overall in the Division I non-football category. The Ramblers scored points in women's volleyball, men's volleyball, and men's cross country. LUC's highest-ever finish in the Directors' Cup came during the 2013-14 season, when the Ramblers placed 114th with 149.50 points.
Loyola's men's and women's volleyball teams both earned NCAA Tournament berths after capturing their respective conference titles, while James Lawrence led the men's cross country team with a strong performance at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup, created through a partnership between NACDA and USA Today, implemented a revised scoring system for the 2024-25 season. Points are awarded based on an institution's performance in NCAA Championships. Division I schools can earn points in up to 19 sports, including five required sports: baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, women's soccer, and women's volleyball.
